The legacy of James C. Ray serves as an inspiration for all of us, and without his generosity and foresight, AOPA’s You Can Fly program would not be as successful as it is. James’ founding support was crucial to AOPA’s ability to launch You Can Fly and to accomplish our shared goals of building aviation STEM curriculum for high schools, establishing a nationwide network of flying clubs, and improving the flight training experience for new pilots. James engaged with AOPA to build a sustainable program based on sound management and accountability. As a result, You Can Fly has produced measurable results worthy of the Ray Foundation's continued investment.
